Well, well, well. So being a jerk does not always pay. Abercrombie & Fitch, who earlier this year drew attention after its CEO Mike Jeffries made some rude anti-plus size comments and it’s “cool kids only” marketing had some sad news. Now, I see at people.com the company has been suffering with major drops in its stock prices and in-store sales as teens abandoned the brand. That is one of the most hopeful things I have read in a long time.

And though Jeffries refused to back down from his marketing targeted “at a particular segment of customers,” Abercrombie & Fitch announced they will be expanding their size range to include sizes larger than a 10.  All in a move to stop the financial drain. Huh.

Now, A&F will sell a wider range of sizes and fits, but they will also be trying to expand their accessories and shoe lines to get more people in the door. Um good luck with that. This company healthy sales even through the recent economic downturn, but is being undone for being rude.

I totally support, but do not like, their elitist business model, free enterprise. Whatever! I think were Jeffries make his error is when he was open about not wanting ‘certain’ people in his clothes.  Really, even if you really feel that you don't tell people writing articles about you! Or is he really so detached he did not know that was wrong?
