UPDATE (May 29th @ 12 Noon)

According to the Lewiston Sun Journal, an 18 year old woman was killed, and two males were injured, following an early morning high speed chase.

The incident began at approximately 2:50 this morning, when a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed passed a parked Androscoggin County Sheriff's deputy.

The deputy began pursuing the vehicle.  The vehicle, traveling south, struck at Maine State Trooper's cruiser.  The chase ended when the driver of the fleeing vehicle lost control and went off the road near North Shore Drive.  It struck a utility pole and rolled over.

An 18 year old passenger died at the scene.  The male driver, and a male passenger had to be extricated from the vehicle.

Their identities were not released, pending notification of their families.

According to WMTW, a serious accident has caused part of Rt 4 in Turner to be closed.

Initially, the road was closed Bear Pond Road  and North Shore Road. Before 6 AM, that closure had been expanded to be from Weston Road to Tidswell Road.

Law enforcement are describing the accident as "bad" and some people saw the Lifeflight helicopter on scene.

Currently, we are not sure on the status of Rt 4.
