Back in June, we told you that Don and Ruth LaChance were attempting to sell Hallowell-mainstay Boynton's Market.

After the better part of six months, it appears that has finally happened!

According to the KJ, the business has been purchased by Farmingdale's Michelangelo and Elizabeth Ciccarelli.

Under the new ownership, the store at 153 Water Street in Hallowell is now called Ciccarelli's Market, Deli & Gelato.

The Ciccarelli's do intend to pay homage to the business's previous name.  They'll be placing a tribute to Boynton's Market in the front window.

The business, which is located on the block between Central Street and Union Street, has been around since 1936.  The original location was one door south of the current location.  In 2011, the store (in its old location) closed for renovations, but never reopened.  After some turmoil, the LaChances leased the current location and moved the store.

It's always great to be able to bring you news about the opening of a new business in Central Maine.  We wish the Ciccarelli's all the best in their new endeavor.
