Augusta Considering Adding Sidewalk To Cony Road Crash Area
After the horrible crash that took the lives of three people last week, the City of Augusta is looking into adding a sidewalk to that section of Cony Road according to a report by WGME.
The city manager of Augusta, Bill Bridgeo indicated that he is not certain a sidewalk there would have prevented the tragedy but feels it is certainly worth looking into. Bridgeo hopes to connect the sidewalk to Piggery Road, Eastern Avenue and also New England Road. City engineers hope to make an assessment soon.
A new sideway would cost approximately $100 per foot with a 1500 foot section that is being considered, that project could be around $200k
Bridgeo feels there is enough money to take care of the sidewalk and plans to make a presentation at the next city council meeting.
