Augusta Firefighter / Paramedic Tests Positive For COVID-19
According to a press release from the City of Augusta Fire Department, one firefighter / paramedic has tested positive for the COVID-19 coronavirus.
The firefighter / paramedic was hospitalized, but is currently resting at home.
Five others have been placed on a 14 day quarantine.
Actions taken since the positive test was confirmed include:
-Notification of all FD employees
-A contact investigation (which continues)
-Three patients that could have come in contact with the firefighter / paramedic been identified and contacted by the Maine CDC
-The North Augusta Fire Station was closed and cleaned
-All trucks have been cleaned and re-cleaned
The press release goes on to impress upon the public that this incident has not affected the department's ability to respond to emergencies.
"There has been no impact on our ability to respond to emergencies. The public should not deter from calling 911 when needing assistance."
