This is an interesting idea. The mental health patients who have committed violent criminal acts could be moved out of their group home in neighborhoods in Augusta and back onto property next to the Riverview Psychiatric Center.

According to the KJ, That would happen under a bill approving the direct sale of former group homes at 6 and 10 Arsenal Heights Drive to Motivational Services, who would run those group homes. Selling the properties would allow Motivational Services to move forensic patients from the group homes on Glenridge Drive & Green St in Augusta back next to Riverview. You see, if the building are sold Motivational Services, they no longer will be state property, sowould they be considered part of a state-owned hospital setting. In turn that means patients living in them should be eligible for their federal benefits.

The neighborhoods where the forensic patients have been living have had some concerns about security and safety.
