Cancer Survivor’s Day & Walk For Hope Combined into Day of Hope

We live in a world and a year where things around us our constantly changing as a global pandemic rages on in the background. While COVID could never put a damper on the celebration of Cancer Survivor's Day or the Walk for Hope, it is enough to at least make both of these events virtual.

We spoke with Deb Bowden and Lindsey McCormick from Maine General this week about the changes and how people can still get involved to give back to such a great cause. Their fundraising goal for the year is set at $150,000 and they have already raised $90,000- how exciting!

The combined events will be taking place together, virtually, on Saturday, October 3rd. Whether you want to walk on your own time and log your progress, make a one-time donation or get a whole team together, you can do your part to give back to an organization that is responsible for helping to save so many lives here in Central Maine. Oh, and another cool thing? The registration fee has been waived this year, too!

Additionally, one of the things that will be the most missed this year will be the courageous stories that survivors tell when they take to the stage prior to the walk. But Maine General has even thought of that. They have been working hard getting all of these things on film so that on October 3rd the can premier a celebration video as the day's events kick off.
