
Central Maine Man in Custody on Drug Trafficking, Firearm Charges
With the drug epidemic reaching a fever pitch, law enforcement agencies all around the state and country are working overtime to try and keep these illicit substances off of our streets and out of the hands of our citizens.
For the second time in a week, a large drug bust has happened in Maine's Androscoggin County. Last week we brought you news of a pair of Lewiston brothers who had been arrested and charged on allegedly possessing illegal drugs and firearms.
LEWISTON BROTHERS ARRESTED ON DRUG CHARGES
This week, another drug arrest has happened, only this time it was across the river in the city of Auburn, Maine.
According to an article published by WGME 13, an Auburn man is in custody following a search of two properties last Friday. The news station goes on to report that the Auburn Police Department obtained multiple search warrants for two different Auburn locations.
Police say that following a search of the properties, police were able to seize about 27 grams of cocaine base, 6.5 grams of cocaine hcl, 15 MDMA pills, also known as ecstacy, packaging materials and more than $500 in what officials believe drug proceeds.
WGME says that following the discovery of illicit drugs, police then took Jose Mota, 39 of Auburn, into custody. Mota was subsequently charged with illegal possession of a firearm and Aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs.
At this time, it's being reported that Mota is being held on a $25,000 cash bail. WGME reported that Mota has a lengthy criminal record spanning multiple felonies in multiple states.
