According to News Center Maine, a Central Maine teenager has been killed following at All-Terrain-Vehicle crash that occurred on Friday night.
Kennebec County Sheriff's Office say that deputies responded at about 11:45 on Friday night after reports that a person had been 'thrown from an ATV'.
The 16-year-old boy, reportedly from the town of Oakland, Maine, had been riding down the road in Belgrade at a high rate of speed passing multiple cars on the left-hand side, witnesses tell News Center Maine.
Police say that the accident happened in the vicinity of 638 Manchester Road in Belgrade. Police say that while the teen was passing cars at a high rate of speed he lost control after being unable to negotiate a turn near the corner of Wings Mills Road.
It was at that time that the 16-year-old was thrown from his 1995 Polaris all-terrain-vehicle. News Center Maine is reporting that multiple fire and EMS crews responded to the scene of the crash, however they were unsuccessful in their life-saving attempts and the teen was pronounced dead.
Police say they don't believe the rider was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The name of the 16-year-old was not made immediately available by authorities.
