According to WGME, one of the Boston bars inspired by the fictional bar on the show "Cheers" is set to pour its last drink.

After two decades of serving locals and visitors, the "Cheers" bar at Faneuil Hall will close its doors on August 30th.

The reason?  The owners blame the landlords' insistence on charging rent during the coronavirus-caused shutdown of the business.

Fortunately, The Bull & Finch, the Beacon Street, Boston, bar that inspired the TV show will remain open.  According to their website, The Bull & Finch Pub first opened in 1969.  In 1982, the same year the show premiered, it was chosen as "Boston's Best Neighborhood Bar" by Boston Magazine.

"Cheers" which ran on NBC from 1982 to 1993, followed the exploits of former Red Sox player turned bar owner Sam Malone.  Joining him were bar regulars Norm and Cliff, dopey bartender Woody, and hot-headed waitress Carla.
