Even though I've driven passed it dozens of times, and even lived a few miles from it for a few years, until last weekend, I'd never had a chance to visit the Cole Land Transportation Museum in Bangor.

Since opening in the late 1980s, the museum has given hundreds of thousands of people a chance to see what land transportation in Maine was like in the 19th and 20th centuries.

The museum features wagons, trains, cars, trucks, the old Enfield train station, and more.  Additionally, it serves as a tribute the U.S. Military veterans (like founder Galen Cole) and gives visitors the history of Coles Express shipping.

If you are interested in Maine history, this museum is a must-visit!!  And, it is very affordable: $7 for adults, and kids under 19 are free.
