Sure, watching the TV news is a good way to get information about things that have happened in the area, but sometimes just logging onto Facebook will provide you with more local information than any nearby news source could ever provide.

That was exactly the case last night when Facebook erupted with a shared photo of a car that apparently lost control, drove across multiple lawns and struck a telephone pole before eventually crashing into the front of a home on Townsend Avenue.

There were hundreds of Augusta residents without power last night as crews worked to both clear the scene and restore the pole that had been damaged. We don't have any information on what specifically caused the crash of the condition of the driver, though we certainly hope nobody was injured during the event.
