Damaging Wind & Rain Likely For Parts of Maine on Thursday
Heads up, Maine, we could be in for some strong to possibly severe thunderstorms Thursday afternoon, especially if you’re in the mountains or inland areas.
The biggest threats? Damaging wind gusts and some torrential downpours. WGME 13 says there’s also a small chance we could see a quick spin-up tornado or two in the mountains, though not super likely, but not off the table either.
According to NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center, we’re in a "slight risk" zone with that being the yellow on the storm map and we’re looking at two rounds of storms with one in the afternoon, and another later on after dinner.
Before that kicks in, your Thursday starts out cloudy and foggy. But here's the deal...if the sun breaks through during the late morning, that’ll add fuel to the storm threat later. So if you're thinking about hitting the lake or beach, you're probably good in the morning hours.
Could I still get a sunburn even though the sun will be hidden much of the day?
Also, don’t forget the sunscreen because WGME is reporting that the UV index is cranking at an 8, so even with some clouds, you can still fry pretty quickly.
Now here’s the good news: Thursday is the last day of the gross humidity. A much nicer air mass moves in behind this storm system, straight from Canada, dropping dew points into the 40s and 50s. By Friday, according to the news station, it’s gonna feel like a completely different season.

Winds will be a little gusty out of the northwest as the front clears, but they’ll settle down heading into the weekend.
As for that weekend forecast? Saturday is your winner for outdoor plans. Things go downhill late Saturday night with some showers rolling in and Sunday looks moist like a towelette.
