Multiple people were injured and a dog was killed in a Maine car crash that happened on Saturday morning, according to first responders.

WGME 13 is reporting that the crash happened between the Shaw Road and Route 1 when a van, driven by a Nevada man, crossed over the centerline and and hit another vehicle that was being driven by a Woolwich woman.

Police report that both drivers sustained serious injuries in the crash, though none of those injuries are reported to be life-threatening. Both of the drivers needed to be removed from the vehicles following the crash due to the extensive damage.

Sadly, though it looks like the drivers will eventually be okay, a dog that was in the vehicle driven by the lady from Woolwich did not survive. WGME 13 reports that the dog was taken to an area animal hospital where it tragically succumbed to its injuries.

This is a developing story and we will continue to keep it updated as more information becomes available to us.
