Experience the Night Sky of Northern Maine From a Two-Story Observatory Under the Milky Way
One of the most exciting new additions to the Moosehead Lake region is Moosehead Lake Sky Watch at Far Reach Observatory. Located in Beaver Cove, this observatory offers a completely different way to experience Maine. Instead of just looking at the beautiful landscape, visitors get the chance to look beyond it and explore the night sky.
Far Reach Observatory is a two-story observatory filled with interactive exhibits, a live telescope feed, and advanced equipment designed for deep-sky viewing and astrophotography.
Before heading to the observing deck, guests can enjoy educational talks and exhibits that make astronomy interesting and easy to understand. Once outside, visitors can look through a powerful telescope and see star clusters, nebulae, galaxies, and even the Milky Way in incredible detail. During the day, the observatory also offers solar viewing through a special solar telescope.
