Congratulations to Franklin Altenative School in Auburn. Ten Franklin Alternative School students are going to President Barack Obama's inauguration ceremony. Some students at the school are really into civics, loved the mock debates and elections and the political process in general, so the school wanted these enthused students to go to D.C. for the Presidential inauguration. The school entered into a lottery to win tickets with Congresswoman Chellie Pingree's office, but didn't win. Pingree sent a letter back telling the school to get in touch with Congressman Michael Michaud's office. So, they did that and got the tickets to go.

They raised $3500 from supporters and now off they go. Sunday they'll drive down to Washington  D.C. and then that evening, take in the sights. Monday they will go to the swearing in of the president's second term.
