The Associated Press is reporting Governor Mills signed a bill that will protect Maine's internet customers.

Beginning in September state contracted internet service providers must agree to provide net neutral service. That means those providers will not be allowed to block lawful content, throttle or slow down internet speeds or favor some websites over others in searches.

The new law also includes that internet providers must get customer approvals before they can sell personal information, the article reports.
