People See Ghost Children At This Genuine Haunted Maine Hotel

If you are looking for a unique Maine getaway, or you find the idea of staying in a "normal" hotel boring, this could be just the place for you!

According to Only In Your State, the Herbert Grand Hotel in Kingfield, Maine is said to be one of the most haunted hotels in New England.  And, considering how many haunted hotels and inns there are in Maine, that is saying something.

Supposedly, the hauntings have been going on for well over a century.

The History

The plot of land originally held a boarding house.  When that boarding house burning down in 1871, the Kingfield House Hotel was built on its spot.

A few decades later, in 1917, the Herbert Grand Hotel was built by Herbert S. Wing, a local lawyer and politician. The hotel opened in 1918.  It was, at the time, one of the most luxurious hotels in Maine.  It had in-room telephone services and indoor plumbing.

For years, the hotel was a hotbed of shady activity including prostitution and a speak-easy during the prohibition era.

In recent years, it has become a lodging option for those wishing to ski and snowboard at Sugarloaf Mountain.

The Hauntings

Over there years, there have been plenty of stories people seeing strange things and apparitions.  These include ghost children, shadow figures, and ghostly women.

People have even reported see objects move around the bar.

Much of the paranormal activity seems to be centered around Room 318.  In fact, on the website, the owners refer to the 3rd floor room as "the haunted room".
