Serious Crash Closes Route 3 in Augusta, Drivers Urged to Avoid Area

Drivers in Augusta should expect delays and detours following a serious crash near Route 3 and West River Road.

According to the Augusta Maine Police Department, Augusta Police and Maine State Police are investigating the crash, and a section of Route 3 between West River Road and the I-95 roundabouts has been closed.

Police are asking motorists traveling on I-95 to avoid using Route 3 at Exit 113 eastbound while the investigation is underway.

Drivers who normally use Route 3 to reach MaineGeneral Medical Center, I-95, or other destinations in that area are being urged to find an alternate route.

Motorists should expect delays in the area and allow extra travel time.
