This Labor Day Weekend Fair Has a Special Place in Maine History

You Might Not Have Heard of This Maine Fair

I’ll admit it, when I first heard about the Blue Hill Fair, my first thought was, where exactly is Blue Hill? But this small-town Maine fair might be one you don’t hear about as often, and it definitely does not disappoint.

Blue Hill is tucked away in Hancock County, and every Labor Day weekend the fairgrounds fill up with everything you’d expect from a classic Maine fair: rides, fair food, livestock, horse and oxen pulls, exhibits, live entertainment and plenty more.

But Here’s the Cool Part

If you grew up reading Charlotte’s Web, this fair has a pretty amazing connection. According to Maine Public, E.B. White lived in nearby Brooklin and the Blue Hill Fair partially inspired the fair in his famous book. Today, there’s even a permanent Charlotte’s Web exhibit where you can see Wilbur and friends.

Worth Adding to the List

So whether Blue Hill is a place you know and love or somewhere you’re just discovering, the Blue Hill Fair is a great excuse to explore a different part of Maine, enjoy one more summer adventure and experience a fair with plenty of history, tradition and classic Maine charm.
