Here’s The Whopping Amount of $$$ Central Maine Raised During Yesterday’s Request-A-Thon!
It was another amazing year of Central Maine coming through in a BIG way for Special Olympics Maine, and we can't thank you enough.
Lizzy and I kicked off our day bright and early, opening the phone lines for your 'pay for play' requests at 6am. And, just about as soon as we opened the phones, you all started calling! Our very first donation request of the day was for local group 'North Woods Outlaws'. From there, the flood gates were opened!
From businesses and listeners, everyone was knocking down the proverbial door to get their donation in for Special Olympics Maine.
While the Request-A-Thon was happening on the air, the Law Enforcement Torch Run was happening in the streets as department after department took over the torch to run their leg as it makes its way to the summer games in Orono.
And, as the torch run was happening, we were blessed to have several members of our local law enforcement community stop in to help us out in studio. From Wiscasset PD to Hallowell, Lewiston and even Kennebunk, we had a studio full of awesome officers and detectives.
Now, how much money did Central Maine raise for the amazing crew at Special Olympics Maine? Well, thanks to you, and amazing local businesses like ESM, Maine Savings, Assistance Plus, Dance Unlimited and many others, you ALL came together to help us send more than $10,500 bucks to Special Olympics Maine!!
And even though millions of people are used to working 12 hour shifts each and every week, Lizzy & I are not those people, so this is what we looked like by the end of it all.
Once again, thank you so much to everyone who helped raise more than TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS for Special Olympics Maine and we are already talking about next year's event.
THANK YOU!
