3 Arrested, 153 Grams of Crack & Fentanyl Seized Following Maine Police Chase
Three Maine residents were arrested following a drug bust that happened after a police chase on Wednesday.
According to the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office, sheriff's deputies attempted a traffic stop on Wednesday morning on Littlefield Avenue in the town of Hermon. Police say they attempted to pull the vehicle over at about 10:40 in the morning, but the vehicle fled the stop.
Police gave chase to the vehicle which fled up Interstate 95 in the northbound lanes. Eventually, the driver realized he wasn't going to get away and ended up pulling the car over near the Broadway exit in the city of Bangor.
When police approached the car, they found that there were three occupants inside. The suspects were removed from the vehicle while a search of the car's contents was conducted by Sheriff's deputies.
Police say during the search they discovered 142 grams of suspected crack cocaine and approximately 11 grams of deadly fentanyl.

The driver of the car, Jacob Hawkes, 27 of Bangor, was charged with unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs, violation of conditional release, operating after revocation, eluding an officer, and driving to endanger.
58-year-old, Clinton Taylor, of Bangor, was charged with unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs.
26-year-old, Kayla McCarthy of Lee, Maine, was taken to the hospital as she was suspected of trying to hide some of the drugs 'inside her body' according to police. After she was released from the hospital she was charged with unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs and violation of conditional release. WGME also reported that McCarthy had a warrant for failure to appear for a prior charge of unlawful possession of scheduled drugs.
The three suspects are being held at the Penobscot County Jail.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
