According to WABI TV 5, HGTV has given away a house in Maine as part of their 'Urban Oasis Home Giveaway 2020'.

The home, located in Portland, Maine, is about 2,000 square feet and features 2.5 bathrooms, 3 bedrooms and all of the included home furnishings. Additionally, the total value of this prize is about $650,000.

The winner is a Physician's Assistant from Seattle, Washington. Elise Kaiser said she entered the contest twice a day for seven weeks which means she had almost 70 submitted entries. Kaiser was told of her winnings during a Zoom call that she thought was a virtual bachelorette party when, in fact, it was the designer of the house breaking the good news to her.

Despite entering the contest for weeks on end and winning the house, Kaiser said she's not certain if she'll actually take the house and move away from Seattle. Instead, it appears she's considering the 'alternative prize' which is a cash option from HGTV.

“I don’t know that a move is in the cards. I’m not sure what I’m going to be doing in terms of taking the home or the alternative prize. But, I really can’t lose either way. The home is so beautiful.”

“Such a unique and wonderful position to be in that this is what I am deciding between, and both options will allow me to really pay it forward and give back to local businesses here that are struggling during the pandemic and donate to charities that are doing great work.”
