Historic Items from Former Red Sox Player Up for Bid in Maine
If you're a die-hard member of Red Sox Nation, like I am, you are going to want to check out this auction tomorrow (Aug. 15) in Biddeford.
According to the Sun-Journal, Harry Lord was born in Porter, Maine, in 1882 and played baseball and football at Bridgton Academy and at Bates College.
He played for the Boston Americans and then the Red Sox, in the early 1900s. Some of his memorabilia will go up for bid at Saco River Auctions. Items include a 6-foot-long panoramic photo of the Red Sox and Washington Nationals playing on Patriots Day in 1910, a photo of Lord and Ty Cobb, and baseball cards featuring the Maine native.
After his playing and coaching career ended, Lord returned to Maine where he lived in South Portland and was once elected to the Maine House as a Republican.
