I have to get this off my chest. Isis and ISIS are NOT the same thing. I have been seeing this in the news about people who have children or pets or businesses named Isis and are being harassed or people are making snarky comments.  I know I should not be shocked, but I am. Really, people, grow up!! Are people so narrow minded and shallow to know and process the difference? Isis is a Egyptian Goddess who is still worshiped by some day. She is worshiped for all sorts of great things. ISIS (or ISIL) is Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.

I have a friend with a dog named Isis. She has people comment was an ‘unfortunate’ name for the dog. I do not know why she chose that name, but she did. But, I know it has nothing to do with Islamic militants.

I saw a post on Facebook from someone asking about vehicle with the name Isis on the side. Yes, it was a real business. Isis also the name of a number of businesses and products. Why should a business have to deal backlash from a name that was chosen for other reasons? I do not think a business should have to change its name or a product name just because of some acronym.

Even Isis the dog on Downton Abbey is getting backlash. Really? My head is about to explode. People are picking on the name of a fictitious dog from a TV show set in the early part of the twentieth century. Might I add, the real family of the setting of Downtown Abbey, Highclere Castle, had a history with Egyptian archaeological digs, so the name has relevance!

I have to go now....all this is making my blood pressure sky rocket!
