Summertime and the eating is tasty, especially in Portland, one of the best foodie cities in the country.

Two of the greatest things about summer in Portland are the ideal temperatures and some of the best seasonal flavors of the year. Sure, we have to share the city with a vast number of tourists, but it’s totally worth it because the city always delivers.

It’s not hyperbole to say that Portland’s food scene has it all.

It’s simply exemplary. Whether it’s breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, or late-night snacks, Portland stands shoulder to shoulder with the best food cities in the country.

I’ve been fortunate enough to eat in some of America’s greatest foodie towns, yet many of my favorite meals have come from restaurants right here in our little city.

What Makes Portland, Maine Such a Great Foodie Town?

That’s thanks to so many talented homegrown chefs, along with those “from away” who’ve discovered just how special it is to live and work in our fine state. That melting pot of talent has helped turn Portland into a can’t-miss culinary paradise.

While I have my favorite spots, I was curious to see what the masses believe are Portland’s best. So, I decided to take a look at the latest “Highest Rated” list from TripAdvisor. The popular review site compiled its rankings based on several factors, including popularity and relevant write-ups.

Some of these may surprise you, but I think it offers a great snapshot of many of Portland’s finest establishments.
