Free Halloween Costumes From S.C.A.R.E. Across New England

Halloween is supposed to be all about fun, imagination and a little bit of spooky magic. But for some families, the cost of a Halloween costume can make that magic a little harder to come by. That’s where one New Hampshire organization is stepping in to help.

S.C.A.R.E. NH stands for Secondhand Costume Annual Redistribution Effort, and their mission is pretty incredible: making sure kids don’t miss out on Halloween simply because their families can’t afford a costume.

As a mom, I appreciate any organization willing to help families create memories for their little ones.

The nonprofit "collects new and gently used costumes and accessories and gives them to families completely free of charge". And they’re reaching kids all across New England.

According to their website, S.C.A.R.E. says, "We collect those costumes the kids outgrew from last year, organize them, and find community partners to help us distribute these Halloween costumes in NH, Maine, and Mass – all at no costs to the families!"

And the organization has grown BIG since! S.C.A.R.E. has provided more than 5,500+ costumes to 3 New England states over the last decade.

They’re also helping make Halloween fun beyond the costumes, with their FREE Spookville haunted house and special kid-friendly experiences. The organization has even offered sensory-safe, fright-light days so more children can enjoy the Halloween fun.

Every kid deserves the chance to pick out a costume, dress up and feel like a superhero, princess, ghost or whatever their imagination dreams up. And with Halloween around the corner, this is a great way for parents who may not have the funds to plan ahead and provide some holiday magic for their family!
