John Williams has been found guilty of murder in the killing of Somerset County Sheriff's Deputy Corporal Eugene Cole. According to a report from WMTW, the jury was out for deliberations for three hours before returning with a verdict.

According to WGME, Williams was accused of shooting and killing Corporal Cole in Norridgewock on April 25, 2018.

Williams faces a sentence of 25 years to life in prison.

Whether or not Williams killed  Cole was never the question.  The question was whether or not he did it intentionally.

The prosecution argued that Williams knew what he was doing and did it because he did not want to go to jail.

The defense claimed the defendant was high on drugs and did not know what he was doing.
