Augusta residents approved a bond to expand and renovate Lithgow Library Tuesday. According to the KJ, Voters approved a proposal to borrow $8 million to nearly triple the size of the city’s historic public library by a vote of 2,153 to 461, an 82 % margin of victory. The $8 million bond will be paired with private money raised and pledged to expand and renovate the library. City Manager William Bridgeo said construction would likely start next spring, and take between 12 and 24 months to be fully complete.(KJ)

Voters in Norridgewock approved a proposal to create a tax increment financing district in the area of the pipeline being constructed by Summit Natural Gas of Maine. According to the Sentinel the vote was 154 voters in favor and 43 opposed. The TIF proposal will allow the town to capture some of the taxes generated by the project and apply the funds to other projects in town. (Sentinel)

Bruce Poliquin has won the Republican primary for the 2nd Congressional District seat and will face Democrat Emily Cain in November. The seat became open when U.S. Rep. Mike Michaud decided to run for governor. (AP)
