Kennebec River Brew Fest Was Full of Beer, Music, and 100 Degree Heat

I was honored to emcee the 2022, 5th Annual Kennebec River Brew Fest. Holy cow, I can't wait to tell you how it went. Also, the fact that I had never been so hot in my life.

A Brew Fest is where a bunch of different local breweries show up, at a field (Mill Park in Augusta) and let people who bought tickets in to sample their brews and meads.

It's a beer-lovers dream. The event's big sponsor was Highbrow with many other. The show was run by a woman named Iris and her team of woman who could whip anyone into shape. She was smart, she wore a sunhat.

Not only were their over 20 local breweries providing samples, but their was a food truck and music from top performers in Maine.

The musicians were The Tourmalines, Rob Burnell, Ellis Falls, and Country Roads. They were all stellar and I had fun introducing all of these local artists.

I also had lots of fun sampling the beer. Smart Eye & Med Spa gave pretzel necklaces to all of us because if you eat a pretzel after sampling a beer, it helps to clear your pallet. So you could really tell you who was buzzed if they had like one broken pretzel left hanging from their neck.

In addition, we had axe throwing by Splittin' Wood in Lewiston.

So there we all were, dancing, drinking, eating pretzels and throwing axes. That's a hell of an adult party. However, the heat was tremendous.

I was not too smart that day when I was getting dressed and decided to wear a silk top. SILK. IN HEAT. REALLY, ELIZABETH?

Silk is a fabric that shows every spot of perspirations you may have pouring through your pours and that's exactly what happened.

It's not like I could cower in a tent behind or behind a food truck either, I was the emcee, I had to be on and off stage, walking around, networking, and connecting with all the wonderful people.

So would do you do when you're sweating like a pig through your clothes in front of hundreds of people? You make your best friend and musician, Josh McKelvey pour water on your head and pretend you were surprised when on the inside you were relieved.

That is exactly what happened. So instead of walking around soaking of sweat, I was walking around soaking of Poland Spring bottled water.

When in sweaty doubt, make someone pour water on you. Pro-tip, do it in front of everyone so they know it's water and not sweat.

This years Kennebec River Brew Fest was a blast, next wear, no silk.
