Popular Maine Chinese Restaurant Closes After Owner Detained by ICE
Canton Wok has been sitting on Lisbon Street in Lewiston, Maine serving the community for many years.
It’s been a longtime staple for Chinese takeout and has suddenly closed.
This happened after it’s owner, Xing Feng Dong was taken into custody by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), according to a report put out by WMTW.
Dong, 46, has been held at the Cumberland County Jail in Portland since the 6th of May, according to federal and jail records.
The closing, which was so very sudden has left the community in shock and awe.

The concern is hitting because Canton Wok is known for it’s steady consistency throughout the years and their very loyal customers. It’s been a dining to-go spot forever.
A “closed” sign recently popped up on the door and now their website and Google listing show the business is permanently shut down.
Dong has been confirmed as a native of the Peoples Republic of China as per ICE but as of now, we haven’t had any information on the circumstances of his arrest.
Mayor Sheline Responds to Unexpected Shutdown
Lewiston Mayor Carl Sheline acknowledged the news, calling it unexpected saying,
"I'm in the process of trying to find out more information. As mayor, it's important to me to learn what happened,"
As we all wait to see what happened, regulars say they had noticed the spot hasn’t been opened for several days.
