Elderly Maine Driver Confuses Pedals, Crashes Through Nail Salon

It was a wild scene that unfolded at a Maine nail salon late in the afternoon on Saturday.

According to an article by WGME 13, the crash happened at the Prime Nails & Spa location on Gallery Boulevard in Scarborough, Maine. Police say they were called to the nail salon at about 3:30 on Saturday afternoon for reports of a car through the building.

When police and fire crews arrived on the scene they found a gray SUV had jumped over the curb and crashed through the side of the building. Initial reports indicate that an elderly driver had gotten confused and mixed up their pedals.

This caused the elderly driver of the vehicle to press on the accelerator thinking that it was the brake pedal. Fortunately, even though the car crashed all the way through the font of the salon, no injuries were reported on the scene.

Prime Nails & Spa shares the storefront with four other businesses, however the other businesses were not damaged in the crash and will remain open. The nail salon says they're now closed and will remain shut down until further notice.
