Maine is up against a lifeguard shortage as summer nears.

Maine State Parks is looking for certified lifeguards for the summer 2016 season. The season begins on June 5 and runs until Aug. 20.

The state is looking for lifeguards for Crescent Beach State Park in Cape Elizabeth, Damariscotta Lake State Park in Damariscotta, Lake St. George State Park in Liberty, Popham Beach State Park in Phippsburg, Range Pond State Park in Poland, Reid State Park in Georgetown, Sebago Lake State Park in Casco and Swan Lake State Park in Swanville.

Lifeguards must be at least 17 years old in the state. Certification is available through local classes. Get more info here!  (AP)
