Maine Man Arrested After Allegedly Kicking Person in Face Repeatedly
A Maine man has been arrested following an incident that allegedly unfolded on Sunday morning, according to police.
WGME 13 is reporting on Monday morning Rockland, Maine police responded to calls of someone being assaulted somewhere in town (the scene location was immediately made available). Callers that reported the crime indicated the victim appeared to be on his hands and knees as he was taking kicks to the face from the alleged assailant.
The news station is reporting that reported indicated that an unknown man was repeatedly kicking another man in the face and would not stop. When police arrived at the scene on Sunday morning, they found the victim of the attack.
In addition to locating the victim of the violent act, police also reportedly saw blood in the roadway consistent with the level of injuries the victim had sustained during the Sunday morning attack.
After police were able to locate the victim, medical crews arrived on scene and transported him to Pen Bay Medical Center for severe facial injuries.
While at the scene, police also encountered the alleged aggressor in the altercation. Rockland Police say they were able to apprehend Robert Barter, 60 of South Thomaston, and subsequently charge him with aggravated assault and criminal threatening.
WGME 13 went on to report that Rockland Police, during the arrest of Barter, also located a 'small' amount of white powder on his person. Police say that more charges are likely if the substance tests positive for illicit drugs.
Currently there is no word on the medical condition of the victim or what led to the Sunday morning altercation.
