Evsikov then stopped and exited the vehicle in an apparent attempt to remedy the situation. When he exited, he left the vehicle in neutral. After stepping out of the van it began to roll backwards, subsequently running the man over.

Police report that the incident occurred at about 4 in the afternoon on Thursday. Crews responded to the scene after reports that a pedestrian had been struck by a van. Sadly, the injuries sustained by Evsikov were fatal.

Fox 22 is reports that the Bar Harbor Fire Department was assisted on scene by the Ellsworth Police Department, Mount Desert Island Police Department and Bar Harbor Police Department.

This is a developing story and we will continue to keep it updated as more information becomes available either from the sourced article at Fox 22 Bangor, or area police and fire officials in the Bar Harbor region.
