A night of laughter is coming to Augusta later this month, and it's all for a great cause!

The Augusta Emergency Overnight Warming Center is hosting a special comedy fundraiser on Friday, October 23, 2026, at the Augusta Elks Lodge, bringing together four comedians to help support some of central Maine's most vulnerable residents.

The event, appropriately themed "Laugh. Give. Make a Difference," will feature comedians Johnny Ater, Ian MacDonald, Julie Poulin, and Amparo Randall.

Beth Sirabella will host the evening, with doors opening at 6 p.m. and the comedy kicking off at 7.

Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door, with proceeds benefiting the Augusta Emergency Overnight Warming Center, a mission of South Parish Congregational Church.

The warming center provides a safe place for people experiencing homelessness to escape Maine's dangerously cold winter temperatures.

Located at 34 Bridge Street in Augusta, the facility offers more than just a warm place to sleep. Guests can access basic necessities, including showers, laundry facilities, food, and connections to other community resources.

And the need is significant. During the winter of 2024, the center reported having just 30 beds, despite some nights seeing more than 50 people seeking shelter.

The October 23 fundraiser is sponsored by KV Federal Credit Union.

It's a chance to enjoy some local comedy while making a meaningful difference for neighbors who need a helping hand.
