Maine's Bureau of Financial Institutions has issued a warning about scammers posing as financial institutions in order to gain access to customers sensitive banking information. The scammers start by sending convincing emails claiming to be from the customers bank claiming they are updating their online platform. From there they'll have you click through a series of links to gain access to your information. The emails reported have indicated a threat of suspension of access in order to convince you to share details.

Please note, banking institutions of any kind will not ask for your personal information over the phone, through email, or through text, so if you are contacted through any of these, it is most likely a scam. For all the details on the scams and who to contact if you feel like you've been targeted, visit Centralmaine.com.
