When it comes to overall Maine fashion, there are a number of different looks. Depending on where in the vast Pine Tree State you hail from, your look could be totally different than another Mainer.

The way I see it, if you live where there happens to be more trees, you probably can be found most days clad in plaid long sleeves and some type of work boot. If you live closer to where the scent of saltwater overtakes the air, you're likely to have some type of leather loafer and a sweater tied around your chest.

However, regardless of what we all wear on the day to day, there are always going to be times when we need to dress-up for different types of occasions. And, recently, I had one of those occasions to dress up for.

A few weeks ago my wife and I attended my cousin's wedding in Augusta. I was a little bit up in the air on exactly what I wanted to wear. Did I want to go with a full-on suit or a little bit more casual with just a polo and slacks? Well, I decided on a little bit of both.

Now, to be fair, as someone who is morbidly obese, I tend to just wear comfy basketball shorts and a t-shirt, so my fashion knowledge is fairly limited, and this could be where I made my gravest mistake.

Before leaving the house I decided to pair my black dress pants with a red polo shirt and a black-ish suit jacket over it. At first even I thought this was a little odd, but a quick Google search indicated that this is actually a growing fashion trend among men.

However, when we got to the wedding, my sister looked at me with one of those confused dog head tilts and asked what I was wearing? I immediately accepted that I had made an error in judgment, though others chimed in and said it was fine.

So, were those others just being nice to me, or is this look really not half bad? Help.
