For much of the state, Wednesday's weather started off very mild.  Mostly sunny skies with temps in the upper 50s.

However, it looks like it is not going to stay that way.

According to WMTW meteorologist Ted McInerney, parts of Maine could some serious or severe thunderstorms this afternoon.

The storms, which are expected to roll through southern and south-central Maine from Noon through about 8 PM on Wednesday, will have frequent lightning, downpours, and strong winds.

There's a good chance that the winds, which could gust up to 45 MPH, could cause damage to buildings or cause power outages.  You are going to want to bring in or secure small (light) items on your property.  Toys, lighter patio furniture, etc.

The storms will be followed by a cold front.  Throughout much of Maine, Thursday will feel more like winter.  Highs in the 30s with some significant winds.

The return to winter weather trend has already started in the western part of the state.  Instead of rain today, they'll be getting a few inches of snow.  They could see more of the same tomorrow.
