Maine Teen’s Invention Gets National Recognition
According to News Center Maine, a 13 year old Morgan LaRochelle from Hermon has won 2nd place at the National Invention Convention.
Her invention? A blood glucose level test strip dispenser.
Normally, these strips are stored in a small vial and must be transferred by hand to the glucose meter. Sweat, dirt, and other material on the user's fingers could end up contaminating and tainting the results.
Her invention eliminates that problem. With clean hands, the user loads test strips into the dispenser, and the dispenser loads them into the glucose meter.
Diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in 2018, the goal of making life easier for diabetics is close to her heart.
Morgan and her parents are in the process of getting a patent for the device.
