As we reported earlier in the week, Barclaycard US will be shutting down it's Wilton-based call center causing 227 Mainers to lose their jobs. The call center opened back in 2008 and was able to add hundreds of employees to its ranks in just a few short years.

The Wilton Board of Selectmen held an emergency meeting this past Wednesday to discuss things the town could do to assist all of the people who are going to be unemployed by March 31.

Wednesday's meeting had everyone from the local selectmen to the Department of Labor, Jared Golden, Angus King and Susan Collins. The team is acting quickly to put together workshops on health insurance options, specific needs of employees and how to apply and utilize unemployment.
