Maine Wedding Venue Set to Host Live Nativity Reenactment This Coming Weekend
Christmastime in the Pine Tree State brings with it so many different things to see, experience and enjoy. From holiday gatherings with family, friends and coworkers to getting outside and seeing all the wonderful light displays that are in full force around Maine.
There is certainly no shortage of 'things to do' over the holiday season.
And now, you can add one more thing to that list.
For many Christian Mainers, Jesus' birthday is the "reason for the season," and now those Mainers have one more thing they can add to their "must-see" list this December.
According to an article published by the Lewiston Sun Journal, a Maine wedding venue in the town of Otisfield will be hosting a live nativity this weekend.
The paper reports that the live nativity will take place this coming Saturday starting at 5 p.m. at Field of Faith which sits at Lodge Hill, 437 Bean Road, Otisfield, Maine.
Ken and Jen Hawley, who typically rent their space out for Maine weddings and other types of celebratory gatherings, have offered up the space for Spurr's Corner Church to put the event on. East Otisfield Baptist Church, Oxford Advent Christian Church in Oxford and community members will also be assisting with the display, the Sun Journal said.
The Hawley's said that the live nativity reenactment will be about an hour long and will reenact the birth of Jesus Christ. There will be an onsite choir, live animals and churchgoers dressed as biblical characters, including Mother Mary and Baby Jesus.
Organizers say that the nativity reenactment is completely free and open to the public. There will be a lighted parking area complete with attendants to help control the influx in vehicles they are expecting on Saturday evening. They ask people who plan on attending the event to arrive by 4:45 p.m.
Following the live nativity, there will be a plethora of hot cocoa, homemade foods and even a fire pit, according to the Sun Journal.
