
Maine State Police Investigating Fatal Crash in Winthrop
It seems as though ever since the redesign of the roadways and traffic patters in the town of Winthrop, Maine, we have been hearing about more incidents between vehicles and pedestrians in the area.
And, sadly, we are bringing another story to you today that involves a vehicle and pedestrian in the town of Winthrop. Sadly, the pedestrian died as a result of the injuries that were sustained in the apparent Wednesday evening crash.
According to a report from WGME 13, authorities are investigating after a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle Thursday on Route 202 in Winthrop.
According to police, the crash happened when a motorist traveling eastbound on Route 202 hit a pedestrian. Emergency crews responded to the scene, but the pedestrian was pronounced dead. Officials have not yet released the victim’s name as they work to notify family members.
Route 202 was shut down for approximately three and a half hours while investigators examined the scene and cleared the roadway. The highway has since reopened to traffic.
Maine State Police are leading the investigation into what caused the crash. At this time, no additional details have been released.
Authorities are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact Maine State Police.
