How the Massive Microsoft Outage is Affecting Maine
A global IT cyber outage has halted and interrupted daily life for millions of folks.
This has affected companies globally, from banks to hospitals, media companies, Microsoft apps, and much more. What a lot of us are focusing on are the airlines and airports for travel.
According to the ABC News, American Airlines, United, and Delta all asked for a stop on all flights. As per the repot, by 5 AM yesterday, American Airlines resumed flights.
What caused the Microsoft Outage?
The outage was caused by a technical problem with a vendor called CrowdStrike, according to ABC News.
CrowdStrike is a "global cybersecurity leader with an advanced cloud-native platform for protecting endpoints, cloud workloads, identities and data".
CrowdStrike impacts tons of company systems.

Flights already in the air continued, but new flights were delayed. The problem is worldwide, affecting places like Melbourne Airport in Australia and Berlin Airport in Germany, as well as services like the London Stock Exchange, Google Cloud, and Microsoft.
How will the Microsoft Outage affect Maine?
According to the Portland Jetport, they closed their runway overnight. They put out a statement on their websites, saying,
Several of our airline partners have been impacted by a global cyber outage. Multiple flights have been delayed or cancelled. We will have more information shortly.
