My journey in radio started 20 years ago this month in Saint John, New Brunswick Canada. It was a one year course at The Atlantic Broadcast Centre. Made a lot of friends, drank a lot of Labatt’s and maybe learned a thing or two about radio broadcasting.

In this course we learned ad writing, thinking, broadcasting and the equipment. Reel to reel tape players; thankfully these are now gone from the industry. Razor blade and splicing tape, what a pain.  Carts and their players (8 track type tape) and the toughest piece, the CD players.

Today the equipment we use has changed, but the basics are the same. Be local, relate and entertain. Also “Nobody better, better than no one” and “attitude and initiative” are the two mantras that have kind of stayed with me.

20 years later, still doing it and still loving it.
