‘WinterKids’ Get Moving This Winter & Win $5,000 for Your School
Let's face it, when winter rolls around we cuddle up inside and try to stay warm. But this winter, there is adventure in the air in Maine.
It can be very easy for our kiddos to get stuck inside, gaming, flued to their screens, but they're missing out on the fun!
Let me tell you more. WinterKids, is a nonprofit program dedicated to help youth stay active outside during the winter months, according to WMTW.
Why WinterKids Matters
According to Michigan State University, kids who stay active are able to do better in school. WinterKids takes that knowledge and turns it into action! They offer creative programs that will help our kids and families embrace Maine's longest season.
According to WMTW, one of WinterKids’ best programs is the WinterKids Winter Games which is an amazing competition including Maine schools from all 16 counties!

Matt and I had the privilege of being a part of pumping up their opening ceremonies.
Let me tell you, it was a sight to behold. Imagine the entire school of kids and teachers were outside, bundled up, dancing to music, and celebrating the start of this exciting program.
The energy was absolutely contagious and it was so refreshing to see young kids excited to be outside in the winter.
The competition is gaged on points whereas the schools participating need to complete physical activities outside and the stakes are pretty high.
You can help Gilbert School win by sharing everything they are doing online!
The winning school will take home a whopping $5,000, according to WinterKids.
This program won't only generate physical activity, but you know what happens when you become active, your endorphins pump up, and your serotonin levels increase, making you overall physical and mental health better.
So this isn't just about being active outside, it's also about fostering memories to last a lifetime.
