It's never good when threats aimed at a local school begin to circulate. It's even worse when it's on social media which makes it harder, in some cases, to determine who is actually responsible for the threat.

According to WGME 13, a threat was found, in the form of a screenshot, circulating online about Lewiston High School.  Superintendent, Jake Langlais, took to his X account (formerly Twitter) on Sunday evening to explain a few things regarding the alleged threat.

Langlais said in part,

We are reaching out to let you know that a screen shot with threatening language towards LHS has been reposted and brought to our attention. We are working with law enforcement actively on this. Thank you to all who have made us aware of the situation. We will provide updates.

WGME is reporting that school officials are actively working with local law enforcement regarding the weekend threat and that updates would be provided to the community as more information was gathered.

At this time, it wasn't immediately clear if Lewiston High School would be in session as normal on Monday morning.

This is a developing story that we will keep updated as more information comes in to us.
