Have a Hilarious Story About an Animal? Share it at This Fun Maine Event May 11

We absolutely love talking about events coming up in the Central Maine community, especially when those events are as unique as this one seems to be.

When it comes to animals, both pets and otherwise, we all (especially living in Maine) have at least a few good stories to share, don't we? Well now, you and your kiddos will have a spot where you can go and share those stories with other animal-lovers from around the region.

According to an article published in the Kennebec Journal, an animal storytelling event is coming to the area on Saturday, May 11th. The event will be held starting at 7 pm at the Chesterville Center Union Meeting House in Chesterville, Maine.

Michael Cooper, a professional storyteller and mask-maker (how cool?!) will be hosting this unique event, the KJ reported on Monday.

If you and your family are interested in attending the event, you're encouraged to have your littles ones create pictures of their favorite animals where they will be displayed on the walls of the Meeting House, according to the Kennebec Journal.

It's actually a core memory of mine and takes place at the Katahdin Shadows Campground in Millinocket, Maine. When I was a kid, my dad and I would take an annual trip to the north Maine woods to explore in and around Baxter and take in nature.

Well, one of the stops we always had to make was at Katahdin Shadows Campground to see the rabbits. These weren't regular caged bunnies, though. They were 'wild' bunnies that had had so much human interaction that they were virtually domestic.

They were all over the campground and you could walk right up to them and feed them McDonald's French fries (at least that's what I did).

And while I do have more exciting stories involving Maine moose, this is probably my favorite one because it's instilled as a core memory.
