Waterville Humane Society Welcomes New ‘Animal Loving’ Executive Director
The Humane Society of the Waterville Area has announced the addition of a new executive Director.
According to an article published by the Kennebec Journal, 48-year-old Cornville, Maine resident, Josh Forester, has been named the new Executive Director of the Humane Society Waterville Area.
The Kennebec Journal goes on to explain that Forester previously owned North Carolina's largest dog training center for six years. Following his run with the business he sold it so he could live his dream of travelling around the United States in his RV.
Following his excursions around the country, Forester then decided it was time to plant his roots in the state he loves the most- Maine. After getting to Maine, he was then hired-on as the new Executive Director of the Waterville shelter.
Forester, according to the KJ, assumed the role earlier this month and is super-excited to be leading the organization. Forester said that was impressed with the shelter's non-profit board and staff.
The Kennebec Journal says that the staff at the shelter, which consists of 12 people, are mostly younger folks who are used to working in an often stressful and challenging position.
Josh Forester, told the Kennebec Journal about the shelter's staff,
“They don’t look at it like a job; they look at it like a lifestyle, and it’s actually amazing to see. There’s no ‘down’ time. This isn’t an environment where you don’t have anything to do. That’ll never happen.”
Forester went on to tell the Kennebec Journal that the Waterville shelter operates on a budget of about $1 million per year and is currently serving 17 surrounding communities.
