Give Yourself a Taste of Ireland in This Charming Maine Town
Though Outlander, one of my favorite shows, is set in Scotland, my desire to visit both Scotland and Ireland has only grown stronger.
But here's what rings true for all of us, traveling there is incredibly expensive. An overseas trip may not be feasible just yet.
But until we can all make it to Ireland, we have an alternative right here in Maine. I'm talking about Camden!
According to Onlyinyourstate, a couple of travelers visited Ireland for a wedding. What resulted in that once-in-a-lifetime trip was a deep need to return. But because it's so expensive, this couple says that Camden, Maine mirrors Ireland significantly.
So let's take a look, shall we!
The article read that towns like Lahinch, Ireland, have a ton common with Camden.
This connection most likely comes from the Irish immigrants who arrived in Maine in the 1800s, bringing their design to Camden, as per the post.
Below is a photo of Lahinch, Ireland's seaside town, followed by one of Camden. Notice the lovely similarities between the two!
The town, with its narrow streets and charm, closely resembles Ireland. Camden really is like a little sleepy, seaside Irish town.
The traveler said, "With its narrow streets and antique charm, Camden has a lot in common with the seaside Irish towns I visited."
Have you been to Ireland or Camden? What's another place in Maine you think looks similar to Ireland?
